    belt slipping

  • (Belt slip) The speed differential between the belt and the pulley surface.
  • (Belt slip) When a drive belt is not as tight as it should be, it will slip on the pulley and thus will not transmit power. If a driven pulley is seized, the belt will also slip.

    treadmill

  • A device formerly used for driving machinery, consisting of a large wheel with steps fitted into its inner surface. It was turned by the weight of people or animals treading the steps
  • an exercise device consisting of an endless belt on which a person can walk or jog without changing place
  • A job or situation that is tiring, boring, or unpleasant and from which it is hard to escape
  • An exercise machine, typically with a continuous belt, that allows one to walk or run in place
  • a mill that is powered by men or animals walking on a circular belt or climbing steps
  • a job involving drudgery and confinement

    proform

Go ahead and say it: It looks like a race car. That’s what we said, too, and were ready to dismiss it as a gimmick. But then we tried it, and we stopped smirking. The smaller front roller changes everything you know about using a belt sander, making the belt’s route more of a triangle than an oval. And because of that, you can get the grit to spaces you couldn’t with a standard belt sander—for example, you can actually scoot right up to the baseboard when sanding a floor. There’s more contact area with this design, and while that may be a moot point, we think it’s still worth mentioning. We really like the three-position handle; it adjusts easily and lets you have the grip you need to be in control of an aggressive tool like this one. The dust collector works as well as any on a belt sander (meaning you’re still going to have a mess to clean up). Belt changes are pretty straightforward and easy, thanks to the simple belt release lever. Because it’s not a high-end tool, don’t expect impeccable belt tracking here; still, the adjustment knob does a good job of tracking. This is one of those why-didn’t-someone-think-of-this-sooner tools. Such a simple design change offers so much more utility in a well-priced staple of the workshop.–Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Featuring an innovative front roller that allows you to reach even the tightest corners with ease and cuts down on the need for flush sanding, this 6.0 Amp sander from Black & Decker is ideal for home improvement enthusiasts. Compact and lightweight, the Dragster DS321 boasts a retractable, three-position handle for optimum control and a dust collector to keep your work area clean for improved visibility. When it’s time to change the paper, simply utilize the belt release lever and adjustment knob (which ensures the belt remains in the correct position) and you’re ready to get back to work.

cam belt change

cam belt change
new belt, rollers, tensioner and waterpump on.

feeding belt on anti clockwise starting at the crank (rag down there to stop it slipping) you need to keep the tension on while slipping the belt over the teeth of the cam pulleys. they won’t fit due to the old belt having stretched a bit so the 4 bolts around the cam pulleys need to be lossened 1/4 turn and the pulley turned clockwise as far as possible. you then turn it back anticlockwise no more than one tooth till the belt slips on. bolts are then nipped up.

This is repeated on the remaining 3 cam pulleys keeping the belt taught, easier said than done. You then have to take the tension off the tensioner and slip the belt over the tensionior, waterpump and rear bottom roller in one movement (much easier said than done) all without letting the belt slip off the rear cam pulley.

Once on the tensioner needs to be set, the locking pins removed and the crank turned twice clockwise. The theory goes that if nothing has gone wrong the pins will all slip straight in and it’s job done.

I spent the next 2 hours setting and resetting the belt tension and cam pulley positions until I was satisfied I could turn the engine an even number of times and get the pins straight back in.

reassembly is the reverse remembering to properly fill and bleed the coolant system.

In total this took me 12+ hours but would be more like 8 next time around. Like most difficult car jobs, the first time is the worst as you’re making it up as you go along.

Very satisfying to have done myself especially as I saved around ?700 on parts and lab compared to a main dealer. I don’t want to do it again soon though. Car sounds much quieter now for some reason and the new mount has removed the annoying jerkyness on pickup and lift off

The Belt – Step 4

The Belt - Step 4
Slip loose end through side of the tightening mechanism with the small clamp. If there isn’t adequate friction to stop the strap from moving, stick a piece of thick card with double sided tape onto the inside top of buckle.

Think Tank Thin Skin Belt V2.0, Unpadded Small-Medium-Large Size Modulus Accessory Belt, Fits 27" - 42", 68 cm - 106 cm, Black
Key Features on the V 2.0 Belts Fits Waist Sizes 27-42 New Sizing Advantages: The new sizing system provides greater overlap in-between the belts, which means there is a much greater possibility that the belt will fit. The belts are still based on the photographers measured waist size, since the sizes stated on pants vary from 2-6″ smaller than a person’s measured waist size (by “measured,” we mean taking a measurement tape and putting it around the waist where the belt would be worn). New “Buckle Stop” : When photographers are using a modular belt system, it is very important that the buckle does not “slip” or loosen up during the day. It is also important that when they take off the belt, or sling it over their shoulder, that the belt does not get bigger in size. The new “Buckle Stop” works the following way: The photographer adjusts the primary buckle to the ideal position, and then they adjust the Buckle Stops directly against each side of the buckle. This prevents the main buckle from loosening. If the photographer wants, they can pull on the webbing and the belt becomes tighter. Once they loosen it, the Buckle Stop hits the main buckle and the belt is back at its original setting. Instructions are included with each belt.
